Celebrating NeighborWorks Week and the Opening of Pennington Grove II

During the week of June 4-11, DHIC and other organizations across the country proudly celebrated NeighborWorks Week. As a NeighborWorks America network organization, we dedicate the first full week in June each year to celebrating the successes of communities and how NeighborWorks, NeighborWorks network organizations, and residents work together to empower our communities for success. This year, in honor of NeighborWorks Week, DHIC celebrated the opening of Pennington Grove II in Garner with a resident “Brunch on the Lawn” on Saturday, June 11, as a way for residents to get to know each other. During the event, representatives from Resources for Seniors and the Garner Senior Center were onsite, providing residents with information on the different resources that are available to them. The residents took this time to speak to the representatives, play friendly games of cornhole and bingo, and socialize with their neighbors. Thank you to our event sponsors (listed below), Pennington Grove residents, DHIC staff and board members for helping to make this such a successful day!
