Milner Commons will provide 156 apartments for individuals ages 55+ with incomes at or below 60% of AMI for Wake County. The community is comprised of two, four-story, elevator buildings with 10 efficiencies, 122 one-bedroom/one-bath units, and 24 two-bedroom/one bath units. Some of the property’s amenities include: common laundry facilities along with laundry hook-ups in each unit, computer centers for residents, community gathering rooms, tenant storage areas, fitness rooms, indoor and outdoor sitting areas, patio/porches, and an on-site management office in both buildings. The two buildings are connected by an outdoor walking path with benches for relaxing. The residents will have access to supportive service coordination provided by Resources for Seniors to help them age in place as long as possible.
Milner Commons is located along the future New Bern Avenue Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Corridor, which is projected to be complete in 2026.
Timeline
Construction began Winter 2022.
DHIC expects to complete construction Fall 2024.
