August 17, 2020
DHIC is pleased to announce that the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency (NCHFA) awarded 2020 Low-Income Housing Tax Credits to Booker Park South (9% award) and Primavera (4% award). Both developments are in Raleigh and will add a total of 232 units of high-quality, affordable housing to the marketplace for seniors with limited incomes.
“We are pleased to have been able to secure more than $1.5 million in annual low income housing tax credits to help meet the housing needs for seniors in Wake County,” says Yolanda Winstead, DHIC’s President.
Located on Spring Forest Road, Primavera will include 164 apartments across two buildings (130 one-bedroom and 34 two-bedroom units). The two buildings are arranged to form a courtyard area that will include seating, a lawn area and a community garden among other amenities. Both buildings will feature covered drive-through porte cochères, common laundry facilities along with laundry hook-ups in each unit, computer centers for residents, community gathering room with kitchen, tenant storage areas, fitness room and on-site management offices in both buildings. The residents will have access to supportive service coordination provided by Resources for Seniors to help enable them to live independently for as long as possible.
Booker Park South will be the third phase of the Washington Terrace redevelopment near downtown Raleigh, adjacent to St. Augustine’s University. Booker Park South will offer 68 apartments for seniors (54 one-bedroom and 14 two-bedroom units) in one building. The residents will enjoy common laundry facilities, washer/dryer hookups in all units, tenant storage areas, fitness center, community gathering room with kitchen, and on-site property management. Residents at Booker Park South will also have access to supportive service coordination through Resources for Seniors.
