As a result of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act that was passed in December 2017 that changed tax codes, low-income housing tax credits (LIHTC) became less valuable, making it even more difficult to finance affordable housing communities. DHIC experienced this first hand when financing The Village at Washington Terrace and Booker Park North at Washington Terrace. The American Planning Association recently published an article addressing this issue.
