On Saturday, April 27th, the community came together to celebrate the dedication of the Southeast Raleigh Beacon Site, located along Rock Quarry Road.  As Raleigh’s first Purpose Built Community and only the 2nd in North Carolina and 16th in the county, Southeast Raleigh Promise, the YMCA of the Triangle, Wake County Public School Systems, and DHIC have partnered together to create a place for families, children and individuals to thrive.

Located on-site is the new Southeast Raleigh YMCA Branch and Southeast Raleigh Elementary School, which will serve as the base school for residents. DHIC has been selected as the housing partner and will be building Beacon Ridge Apartments, also to be located on-site. Beacon Ridge Apartments will feature 120 beautiful one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartment homes for families of Southeast Raleigh with incomes at or below 60% of the area median income.

“We are excited that families living here will enjoy quality housing and be able to safely walk their children to school and also enjoy the health and wellness activities and programming offered on-site by the YMCA,” said Beth Voltz, DHIC Board Chair.

Courtney Crowder, the Chair of the Southeast  Raleigh Promise Board of Directors, the quarterback organization, said it best, “The Beacon Site is an example of what happens when we put aside personal agendas to work together to create common ground and place for all. ”

Construction of Beacon Ridge Apartments will begin soon and can be expected to be completed for the 2020 school year.
