Please join us in welcoming to the DHIC team, Yandry Mastromihalis, our new bilingual Homeownership Advisor.
In this role, Yandry works in our Homeownership Center, helping to make the dream of homeownership a reality for residents of the Triangle. Specifically, she’ll meet one-on-one with prospective homeowners to look over their credit scores, finances, budget, and down payment assistance programs to help them determine how and when they will be ready to purchase a home.
Yandry will oversee and conduct outreach to the Latino community, especially Spanish-speaking families and individuals, to bring awareness to programs offered by DHIC.
Yandry says, “I’m excited to be working on a cause that is so close to my heart.”
Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Yandry was raised in Bronx, New York and moved to Raleigh in 2014. “Growing up in the city, renting was the norm and I never knew of anyone that owned a home. However, once I moved to North Carolina, I started working for a housing counseling agency, where I learned everything I could about the home buying process,” she explains. Now a proud home-owner, she wants to help others in the community reach that goal.
Outside of work, Yandry enjoys volunteering in the community and spending time with her husband, Jovanny, and their two children Manny & Emma and their dog Max. “I enjoy hosting dinner parties and planning events as it gives me the opportunity to spend time with the people I love most, and make them happy,” she says. Cooking has always been one of her passions. Her specialty dish is Moro de Guandules, a popular Dominican dish made with rice, pigeon peas, seasonings, and coconut milk.
Yandry holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from William Peace University and looks forward to using her experience and passion for people to help clients overcome barriers to achieving the dream of homeownership.
