DHIC Announces the Retirement of Saundra Harper

After 23 years of service, Saundra Harper will retire from DHIC as the Homeownership Advisor & Community Outreach Manager. Saundra joined DHIC in 1995 and spent her professional career serving as a champion, coach, and advocate for countless families and individuals seeking to improve their financial health and aspiring to achieve the dream of first-time homeownership.

Saundra is best known for the patience, care, and concern she extends to each person she works with and for helping individuals overcome the barriers to homeownership. Her commitment to her work and “can do” spirit has been critical to the growth, success and reputation of the DHIC Homeownership Center (HOC) and has positioned the organization to effectively respond to new challenges and opportunities in the marketplace.

During her time at DHIC, she taught over 180 day-long Bringing Home the Dream homebuyer workshops, impacting over 4,000 graduates. She also delivered over 1,500 individual initial counseling sessions with continuous follow up sessions as needed and her efforts contributed to the successful closing of over 2,000 home sales.

Saundra served as DHIC’s Broker-In Charge and was certified through the North Carolina Association of Housing Counselors and NeighborWorks^® America. In 2017, she was honored at the North Carolina Housing Conference as the recipient of the Louise Mack Award (Housing Counselor of the Year).
