Detrick Clark, Family Services Coordinator
Please join us in welcoming Detrick Clark, Family Services Coordinator at Washington Terrace, to the DHIC team.
In this role, Detrick is responsible for fostering relationships with community partners to help bring valuable services to residents who will soon call The Village at Washington Terrace home. The Village at Washington Terrace is part of phase 1 and will feature 162 family apartment homes, a community building, outdoor play space, community garden and a host of other amenities. Construction of phase 1 is underway and scheduled for completion in early 2019.
Detrick says, “I’m excited about the opportunities that will be available to our residents and I look forward to building on existing partnerships and creating new ones.” Since he joined the team, Detrick has been busy getting reacquainted with partners and meeting new ones. In recent weeks, he has reached out to Wake Technical Community College, Boy Scouts, United Healthcare, and local faith-based organizations. “The idea is that once residents tell us what they need to create the quality of life they desire, we will be ready to respond and deliver services,” said Detrick.
For Detrick, this position holds a special meaning because while he attended St. Augustine’s University, he lived in Washington Terrace. “Since graduating, all of my work has been with non-profits. Helping those in need and connecting them with valuable resources is my passion. To be able to do that in a community in which I once lived and went to school is really special,” he says.
Prior to serving at DHIC, Detrick spent several years at MDC, Inc., as the Central Regional Coordinator (CRC) of The Benefit Bank® of North Carolina (TBB™-NC) program and the North Carolina Employment & Training Project (NC E&T). In this role, he helped to connect thousands of low and moderate income North Carolinians to free tax assistance and millions in federal and state work supports. Over the years, he has facilitated poverty alleviation trainings and student retention planning for several community-based organizations and academic institutions.
Funding for this Family Services Coordinator position comes from the Strong Families Fund, a ten-year initiative launched by the Kresge and Robert Wood Johnson Foundations designed to demonstrate and document the impact of Resident Services Coordination on resident and property success in affordable housing. The project initiative will be managed by Corporation for Supportive Housing.

Outside of work, Detrick enjoys visiting the farmer’s market and state flea market, looking for unique second-hand pieces of decor. He and his wife, Adrienne, an attorney, also enjoy spending time with family and their two kids; three-year-old daughter, Paris, and son, Nathaniel, who turned one this year.
