Help Us Welcome Our New Team Members

We’re excited to introduce some new faces at DHIC! Asset Manager, Skip Jackson and Accounting and Office Coordinator, Susan Kohlrausch, are already working hard to support us in our efforts to bring affordable housing opportunities to those in the Triangle.

Get to know each of them better, below.

Skip Jackson, Asset Manager

As one of DHIC’s Asset Managers, Skip works with the team to plan out the focus for our 45 properties to ensure that we are always providing the best possible value for our clients. Skip has his Low-Income Housing Tax Credit Training (LIHTC) certification and works on bond deals for our properties as well.

He says, “I’ve been working in Asset Management throughout my entire career, starting on Wall Street. About six years ago, I transitioned to the nonprofit sector in Oregon, where I worked on the largest rural rehab affordable housing project in the state. I fell in love with the nonprofit world and feel fortunate to be supporting DHIC’s mission.”

While the majority of this role isn’t new for Skip, in the past he’s had to wear all the hats himself. “One of the reasons I was drawn to DHIC is that throughout the interview process, I got to meet with most of the team members and learn more about how the organization operates. It was easy to see that everyone here really understands the development industry and how to make the most of the available finances. As a result, we can focus on the most important aspects of affordable housing: the individuals we help. It feels great to be part of a team that really gets that,” he explains.

Originally from New York, Skip has twin sons, Alex and Kyle (26), and a Shiba Inu named Cookie. When he’s not working, he loves traveling and enjoying local food and drink festivals on the weekends.

Susan Kohlrausch, Accounting and Office Coordinator

Susan, DHIC’s Accounting and Office Coordinator, provides financial reporting and full-spectrum office services for the organization. While numbers are an important part of her job, she’s just as passionate about the people she serves in this role as well.

She explains, “Numbers are important, but they don’t always tell the whole story. I really enjoy the human services aspect of working here. DHIC has a great reputation in the communities they serve and I’m proud to be part of the work we’re doing here.”

With a background in both for-profit and nonprofit work, Susan has done accounting and office administration work for a number of different companies but found herself drawn to DHIC because of its engaging environment and mission.

“With the current state of the housing market in the Triangle, it’s more important than ever before that people are able to have access to affordable housing. The team here at DHIC is helping to make the dream of homeownership a reality for so many people,” she says.

When she’s not working, Susan enjoys being active outdoors and creating art with acrylics and mixed media. She and her husband, Karsten, have been married for 30 years and have a son, Hans (20), a daughter, Ava (18), and a cat named Leo.
