DHIC is excited to move to the construction phase of the Washington Terrace redevelopment project.  This project has been years in the making and over $44 million has been assembled to date to realize phase one and two of the master plan that was adopted in 2016 by the community.

Phase I: The Village at Washington Terrace

The Village at Washington Terrace will consist of 162 affordable apartments, is now about 40% complete and on-track for an early 2019 completion.

In addition to a robust resident services program, the development will feature one-, two- and three-bedroom plans, as well as a community building, children’s play areas, community gardens, grills and other outdoor areas for the residents to enjoy.

One of the exciting features of the new development is an on-site childcare center that will be operated by the Methodist Home for Children, a Raleigh-based nonprofit known for their commitment to delivering quality childcare services to the community. We are thrilled to be partnering with them to help us make one of our goals and commitments to the community a reality.

Phase II: Booker Park North at Washington Terrace

It’s official:  Funding for Booker Park North at Washington Terrace has been secured and construction is underway!  The community will provide 72 one- and two-bedroom apartments for seniors 62 and older with incomes at or below 60% of the area median income.

Booker Park North will give residents access to communal facilities like a fitness room and computer center, as well as on-site supportive service coordination by Resources for Seniors to help give them the skills to live independently. The property is expected to be completed in early-summer 2019.
