Over the past year, our Homeownership Center has seen an uptick in interest, especially with our new, virtual counseling services. “Adding virtual options for workshops and counseling services created more interest and more people were keeping the appointments they set. The convenience of being able to participate from home or other remote locations made it more accessible to our clients than ever before,” Homeownership Center Director, Sheila Porter explains.

With the added factor of the COVID-19 pandemic forcing members of our community to face new challenges with mortgages, forbearances, and foreclosures, it was clear that the team would need more hands on deck to meet these needs. “We’re thrilled to have Issac here with the rest of our team to help our clients navigate these challenges,” says Sheila.

Please join us in welcoming Issac Reyes to our team, where he plays an integral role in servicing our clients on the path to homeownership.

Issac ReyesIssac Reyes

As a Bilingual Homeownership Center Advisor, Issac specializes in the mortgage process and helping clients understand the tools they need to successfully purchase their first home.

Originally from the Dominican Republic, Issac speaks fluent Spanish, which helps DHIC connect with Spanish-speaking clients.

“A lot of the Latino community isn’t well-versed in the mortgage process and their immigration status can make it hard for them. I’m here to help people who didn’t know they could buy a home understand that it’s possible,” Issac explains.

He is also looking forward to safely getting back out into the community to connect with even more area residents. “Because I’m an open book, I welcome conversations and questions about not only the obstacles to homeownership but also my culture so that I can help educate all members of our communities.”

Issac was instantly drawn to DHIC’s mission and in joining the team, he fit in right away. “It has felt like a family atmosphere from day one. Everyone has taken the time to show me the ropes and there’s a lot of support as we all work together,” he explains.

Outside of work, Issac loves to follow his taste buds by cooking up delectable Dominican cuisine with Sancocho, a delicious meat stew, as his specialty. He and his wife also enjoy getting out and spending time with their labrador mix, Maxwell.
