As a member of NeighborWorks America, members of the DHIC board and staff have the opportunity to attend the NeighborWorks Training Institutes (NTI) that are held in cities across the U.S. four times a year. They offer a comprehensive range of courses in categories like affordable housing, asset management, community revitalization, small business lending, construction and rehab, etc.

The most recent NTI took place in Kansas City from August 15-19. This week-long training brings together individuals from other network organizations all across the country. Staff from DHIC’s Resident Services team and the Homeownership Center had a great time attending.

Hear from two of our staff on their experiences:

Our Resident Services Coordinator, Rachel Tutwiler, explained, “As a newer staff member at DHIC and a first-time attendee at an NTI, it was great meeting people from across the country and learning the different ways they are working to meet the needs of communities. Although every organization and every community is unique, I learned so many things that I can bring back to DHIC and the people I work with through Resident Services.”

Bridgette, Family Services Coordinator, said that “Attending the NTI was the best professional opportunity I have experienced. I can say participating in the Building Leaders Building Communities course has professionally provided a new, effective and innovative approach in the way I plan to enhance leadership skills in the lives of those we serve at the Village at Washington Terrace community.”
