The NeigborhoodLIFT program for Wake and Durham counties kicked off in February of this year and in less than six months the program has made it possible for more than 100 families with modest incomes to access downpayment assistance and achieve the dream of homeownership.
Sponsored by Wells Fargo and NeighborWorks® America, the NeighborhoodLIFT program has committed $5 million to boost homeownership opportunities in Wake-Durham counties. With plans to serve close to 500 homebuyers, the NeighborhoodLIFT program provides up to $7,500 in matching downpayment assistance funds to qualified households.
As a NeighborWorks® America organization, DHIC was selected to administer the NeighborhoodLIFT program locally through its Homeownership Center, a central hub for financial and homebuyer education services and resources. DHIC’s Homeownership Center Advisors work with potential homebuyers to get mortgage ready and to connect them to information and services to assist them through the home buying process.
“We are grateful for this partnership to help individuals and families build wealth and stability through homeownership,” said Sheila Porter, DHIC’s Homeownership Center Director.
