DHIC’s Homeownership Center (HOC) has been active in the community recently with several outreach events designed to engage and inform local residents about financial empowerment, homeownership opportunities, and DHIC’s wide range of services.

Fifth Third Financial Empowerment E-Bus Event

On September 12, DHIC’s HOC team members, Tiffany Wilkins, Tammy Simmons and Issac Reyes, participated in the Fifth Third Financial Empowerment E-Bus event at Walnut Creek Elementary School. This event, which ran from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM, is part of Fifth Third’s Financial Empowerment initiative.

The E-Bus serves as a mobile financial resource center, offering various financial services to attendees. At Walnut Creek, staff members were invited to step aboard the bus during their breaks to receive free credit reviews and financial consultations from the HOC team.

While Fifth Third Bank staff delivered educational sessions in the school’s classrooms, focusing on financial literacy, DHIC team members were on the bus providing personalized support. This outreach aligns with the HOC’s mission of promoting financial empowerment in communities that need it most, especially in Southeast Raleigh.

DHIC is proud of the event’s success in offering practical, accessible financial education to local educators and staff members at Walnut Creek Elementary School.

DHIC team members, Sheila Porter and Jackie Salvati, represented the organization, sharing valuable information about the resources available through the Homeownership Center. The Expo provided a great platform for DHIC to further its mission of empowering local communities through homeownership and financial education.

La Fiesta del Pueblo

Isaac Reyes at La Fiesta del PuebloLa Fiesta del Pueblo is the Triangle’s largest and most diverse festival of Latin American culture, featuring live music and dance performances, artisanal vendors, food trucks, educational booths, and activities for the whole family. Held annually, this vibrant event draws thousands of attendees, celebrating the rich cultural heritage of the Latino community.

DHIC has been a proud participant in this festival for many years, and this year’s event was no exception. Isaac Reyes, a key member of the HOC team, engaged with over 100 attendees, providing information on homeownership counseling, financial education, and DHIC’s various services. The festival offers another avenue for DHIC to connect with the Latino community, promoting financial capability and helping individuals take steps toward homeownership.

Looking Forward

These outreach events exemplify DHIC’s ongoing commitment to supporting Raleigh’s diverse communities. Whether through education, financial empowerment, or direct outreach, DHIC’s Homeownership Center is always finding new ways to engage with the public and promote pathways to homeownership.
