Milner Commons will include 156 apartments for seniors (10 efficiencies, 122 one-bedroom/one-bath units, 24 two-bedroom/one bath) in two residential buildings. Milner Commons will serve those at or below 60% area median income. The community will feature covered walkways, common laundry facilities along with laundry hook-ups in each unit, computer centers for residents, community gathering rooms with kitchen, tenant storage areas, fitness rooms, indoor and outdoor sitting areas, patio/porches, and an on-site management office in both buildings. The two buildings are connected by an outdoor walking path with benches for relaxing. The residents will have access to supportive service coordination provided by Resources for Seniors to help them age in place as long as possible.
Milner Commons is located along the future New Bern Avenue Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Corridor, which is projected to be complete in 2023.
