Homes & Townhomes


Over the years, DHIC has built or rehabilitated more than 400 single-family homes and townhouses for sale to first-time and modest-income homebuyers. Current projects include the Ten at Person Street in Raleigh.  Many of these single-family residential homes demonstrate award-winning work from DHIC in its early years from the mid-70s thru the mid-90s.

meadowcreek

Meadowcreek, Raleigh

Meadowcreek is a 68-home subdivision located off Raleigh Boulevard and Rock Quarry Road in southeast Raleigh, close to downtown and just one-half mile from the I-440 Beltline. Completed in 2006, DHIC sold every home in record time. The homes ranged in price from $105,000 to $142,900 and in size from 1,100 square feet to more than 2,000 square feet. Meadowcreek’s model home was a Silver Award winner in the Parade of Homes sponsored by the Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County. DHIC’s development partner for the subdivision was Murdock and Gannon, Inc.

Hunter Street, Cary

Housing that’s affordable isn’t easy to find in Cary, N.C., so DHIC teamed up with the Town of Cary and Wake County to build four new homes on Hunter Street in downtown. Completed in 2002, these homes feature custom architect designs reflecting “Old Cary” style. This project helped spur redevelopment of a struggling neighborhood and attracted diverse homeowners who enjoyed creating a safe, walkable community for families.

Parkworth, Raleigh

Parkworth is a 24-home infill development located adjacent to Shaw University in Downtown Raleigh. The homes were designed to reflect the historic nature of the surrounding South Park community and received recognition from Builder Magazine, receiving a “Builder’s Choice” award in 1995.

Joe Louis Park, Raleigh

This 17-unit infill development located on East Lenoir Street was completed in 1998. The single-story homes feature low-maintenance energy efficient designs. The neighborhood has been transformed with new private investment years after DHIC initiated this development. Homes are now being built in excess of $250,000, providing the range of diversity that the neighborhood has sought for so long.

Wheeler Crossing, Raleigh

Located inside the inner beltline between South Saunders Street and Lake Wheeler Road, Wheeler Crossing was both DHIC’s and the City of Raleigh’s first affordable housing subdivision. The 46 homes in the neighborhood were completed in 1992 and sold for about $60,000 each. The neighborhood remains stable and has served as a stepping stone for some of the original buyers as their families have grown.
